Unity in Action: BAC and NAMB Partner for Historic Joint Advocacy Event

The broker community is heading to Washington, D.C. with a unified voice this April
For the first time in industry history, two major mortgage broker advocacy organizations are joining forces. The Broker Action Coalition (BAC) and the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) announced today their collaboration on “Advocacy in Action: Better Together,” a joint fly-in event scheduled for April 20-22, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
The announcement, made during NAMB Focus – the organization’s annual sales, marketing, and technology conference – signals a strategic shift toward unified broker representation on Capitol Hill.
Why This Partnership Matters
Both organizations have previously hosted successful independent fly-in events, bringing brokers to Washington to meet with lawmakers. BAC’s April 2025 event drew more than 125 attendees and resulted in 39 congressional meetings, culminating in the live signing of the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act by Representative John Rose (R-TN).
This joint initiative represents something different: a coordinated approach that leverages the combined membership and resources of both organizations to amplify the broker voice where policy decisions are made.
“This partnership reflects what our industry needs most right now: unity,” said Kimber White, President of NAMB. “When brokers come together with a single, coordinated message, it sends a clear and powerful signal to lawmakers that our channel matters, our consumers matter, and we are committed to protecting access to homeownership.”
From Grassroots to Capitol Hill
The event format moves beyond traditional mortgage conferences by placing brokers directly in front of policymakers. Participants will engage in policy briefings, issue-focused discussions, and face-to-face meetings with members of Congress and their staff.
Rachel Clark, Executive Director of the BAC, emphasizes the practical impact of this approach: “Policy decisions are being made every day that directly impact brokers and the families we serve. By co-hosting this event with NAMB, we are creating a stronger, louder, and more effective voice for independent brokers.”
The timing is strategic. With ongoing debates around loan originator compensation, GSE reform, and credit report costs, the broker community faces multiple policy battles simultaneously. A unified presence in Washington demonstrates organized advocacy capacity rather than fragmented responses to individual issues.
Accessible Advocacy
At just $99 to attend, the event removes traditional barriers to political engagement. This pricing reflects both organizations’ commitment to grassroots participation rather than limiting advocacy to those who can afford high conference fees.
The three-day format provides comprehensive preparation alongside direct political engagement. Attendees will receive briefings on current legislative priorities, training on effective congressional communication, and coordinated schedules for Capitol Hill meetings.
Building on Recent Wins
The collaboration builds on demonstrated success. BAC and NAMB’s trigger lead campaign—which culminated in August 2025 passage of the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act—showed what coordinated broker advocacy can achieve. That three-year effort involved 250+ congressional meetings, 25,000+ letters to Congress, and coalition building across multiple industry organizations.
NAMB’s established advocacy infrastructure and nationwide membership base complement BAC’s grassroots mobilization model. Together, the organizations represent thousands of independent mortgage brokers across all 50 states.
What’s At Stake
Mortgage brokers operate in local markets but face federal regulation, creating natural tension between community-level concerns and national policy priorities. Independent brokers compete against retail banks with dedicated government affairs departments and political action committees.
The joint fly-in addresses this disparity by creating organized, sustained broker presence in Washington. Rather than reactive responses to proposed regulations, the event positions brokers to shape policy discussions proactively.
Current federal priorities include Third-Party Originated (TPO) surcharge reform, CFPB oversight, loan originator compensation rules, and expanding access to multilingual disclosures. State-level issues range from disabled veteran property tax exemptions to down payment assistance program access.

The event represents a straightforward proposition: show up, build relationships, and ensure the broker channel has representation where decisions are made.
As Clark notes, “This is about showing up, building relationships, and making sure our industry is represented where it matters most—on Capitol Hill.”
