From Where has released a curated list of Best Boutique Hotels across major US cities, expanding the platform’s Shop the Space™ model beyond short-term rentals to include the boutique hospitality sector.
The directory features properties in metropolitan markets selected through stringent selection criteria evaluating design quality, guest reviews across multiple platforms, and adherence to boutique hotel standards including properties under 100 rooms with distinct design aesthetics.
The move represents a natural progression for From Where, which has built its platform around making beautifully designed spaces shoppable. Co-founder Nisha Franklin explained the expansion logic: “Interior designers were already working with short-term rental hosts, and many of those same designers were creating spaces for boutique hotels. The influence and design expertise naturally extended into the boutique hotel market.”
Boutique hotels present advantages for the shoppable model. Unlike individual short-term rentals where guest volume varies, boutique properties maintain consistent occupancy with guests actively seeking design inspiration during their stays.
The directory addresses a specific market segment. Properties featured meet defined boutique criteria: under 100 rooms, independently operated or part of small collections, and demonstrating distinctive design rather than standardized hotel chain aesthetics.
From Where’s team evaluated properties across major US travel destinations using a proprietary methodology. Hotels required minimum review thresholds across Google, Yelp, and booking platforms to qualify for inclusion.
The selection process prioritized design quality alongside operational performance. “We looked at reviews, but we also evaluated whether these spaces reflected thoughtful design that guests would want to replicate in their own homes,” Franklin noted.
This approach ensures featured properties both perform well operationally and showcase products worth purchasing, aligning with From Where’s core model of context-based shopping.
Featured boutique hotels can integrate with From Where’s storefront platform, making furniture, bedding, decor, and amenities directly shoppable for guests. Properties can join the platform starting at $99 per year for storefront creation and maintenance.
For boutique hotel operators, this creates a new revenue stream from existing design investments. Guests who inquire about specific products can be directed to the hotel’s From Where storefront, generating commission revenue when purchases convert.
The model differs from traditional hotel retail operations that require physical space, inventory management, and staffing. From Where’s digital storefront approach eliminates those operational requirements while still monetizing guest interest in property design.
Selected properties receive recognition through From Where’s Best Boutique Hotel designation, providing marketing value beyond the storefront functionality. The badge signals to travelers that the property has met From Where’s design and operational standards.
The boutique hotel directory complements From Where’s existing designer storefronts and short-term rental network. Together, these components create a comprehensive marketplace where design professionals, property operators, and brands collaborate on shoppable experiences.
Boutique hotels can apply to be verified for future inclusion in From Where’s boutique hotel directory through the platform’s website. Directory consideration is based on design, ratings, guest experience, and overall fit.
Hotels can also register for a storefront – From Where builds a dedicated digital storefront featuring the items used in guest rooms and shared spaces using photos and design details.
From Where manages product sourcing, storefront setup, and transaction handling, requiring minimal involvement from the property. Properties earn commission revenue when guest interest converts to purchases, without needing to run their own e-commerce operations.
The complete Best Boutique Hotels in the US is available now.
