Jebco and Omnium’s Edge redefine luxury living in downtown Sarasota

This isn’t a luxury spa or wellness retreat – it’s The Edge, a distinctive residential development in downtown Sarasota. And it represents the vision that Sadek Omar, Jim Bridges, and their team at Omnium Real Estate (ORE) / Jebco Ventures are bringing to the region.

“We’ve been very fortunate to live in communities where excellent developers that are much more seasoned than I am have shown me how to really give someone a good life experience,” explains Omar. This philosophy of learning from established leaders while adapting to current market demands shapes their development approach.

At The Edge, a 27-unit development currently under construction, the focus is on creating living spaces that combine luxury with practicality. Each residence is designed with 12-14 foot ceilings and large glass walls, contributing to what is referred to as a “volumetric experience,” which offers a sense of space that resembles a luxury home rather than typical condominium living. The units range from 3,150 to 3,530 square feet and are designed with two separate living areas: one for casual family use and another for more formal entertaining.

“I was always brought up with two living areas,” Omar explains, “one for us, like a family room experience, and one is the guest area. You can get more comfortable, kind of loungy TV experience, and have comfort in one area. And then also have a nice area where you feel proud to host people.”

The development’s amenity package centers on wellness and lifestyle enhancement. The Edge includes a tranquility room equipped with recovery technology, adjacent cold plunge and hot tub facilities, and spaces designed for both active fitness and restoration. “Everything we do is all about people who are active, or want to be more active if they were given a convenient way to start,” Omar notes.

Location remains central to their strategy. “In our world,” says Omar, “we try to find locations that are interesting in their proximity to what people necessarily care about… for example if lived in walking proximity to four places that I frequent all the time, and I don’t have to get in the car, or I don’t have to deal with traffic, don’t have to deal with headaches, – that, to me, is the ultimate amenity.”

The company maintains a selective development approach. The team leverages deep experience and financial stability. “We’re not like a typical developer that lives off of fees that you have to churn and burn in order to survive,” Omar explains. “Our whole thesis on how we choose projects is: is there a market for them? Is it the right product for the right time? Is it something that we can stand by?”

This focused strategy has proven effective. Despite market headwinds, ORE has three significant projects advancing in Sarasota. Their next venture, The High Line, will extend their luxury living concept to a broader market. With 126 units averaging 1,250 square feet and prices starting around $1 million for two-bedroom residences, the development will feature similar wellness-focused amenities as The Edge, but at smaller units and a more accessible price point.

A third project, still under wraps, promises what Omar describes as potentially “one of the most important developments in Sarasota’s history” – a branded residential product partnering with a major hospitality brand.

Looking to the future, Omar emphasizes measured growth and market fundamentals. “The word of the year should be stability,” he reflects. “If we can get just a year or two of stability where economic growth is reasonable and everyone’s prospering… I think that’s what people are hoping for.”
